We’re excited to announce the addition of Avalanche to Wormhole's ever-growing number of supported networks! The Avalanche ecosystem will bring incredible value to Wormhole and its five already supported chains through its vibrant DeFi ecosystem and incredible growth trajectory.

Why Avalanche?

Avalanche is a smart contract platform, that achieves scalability by using three interoperable blockchains and a Proof-of-Stake consensus mechanism. Its goal is to serve as the foundation for an expansive ecosystem of dApps. We’ve listened to the Wormhole community’s feedback on our Twitter, Discord & Telegram channels (“WEN AVAX!?”) and we all agree that Avalanche is a tremendously promising and exciting network that gives the established L1s a run for their money!

Liquid Markets

When a user bridges tokens through Wormhole, the origin token gets locked in a smart contract and a new Wormhole wrapped token gets minted on the target chain. This token can then be swapped for other (native) tokens on the target chain. On Avalanche, the most well known DEX, Trader Joe (with more than 2B$ TVL), provides the following markets for Wormhole wrapped tokens:

• SOL(wormhole)/USDC.e
• LUNA(wormhole)/USDC.e
• ETH(wormhole)/USDC.e
• MATIC(wormhole)/USDC.e

Other live pools include:

• wAVAX(Wormhole): on Ethereum via Uniswap
• wAVAX(Wormhole) on Pancakeswap
• USDC.e(wormhole)/UST(wormhole): on AVAX via Curve
